Chianti Fiorentino Photo Tour

in the vineyard landscape near Florence

Chianti Fiorentino Photo Tour

The Chianti hills begin immediately south of Florence, but to find the first vineyards we will travel a few kilometers and move to the area of San Casciano and Greve, west and south of Florence, respectively.

From Greve in Chianti we will climb up to Montefioralle, certainly one of the most beautiful stone village in Italy: an elliptical urban structure with a circular main street and many radial alleys that run into it. The ensemble of stone houses and towers is exceptionally well preserved, homogeneous and very photogenic.

All around Montefiorallle we’ll shoot vineyards as far as the eye can see, and we’ll discover more a little further south in the Panzano countryside. The quintessence of the Tuscan landscape is expressed in this valley: smooth rolling hills, pattern of vineyards alternating with olive groves, large stone farmhouses announced by a row of cypres trees. Just in one word: the harmony in the landscape.

if we point westward, here is the historic Badia a Passignano, also surrounded by amazing  vineyards with exceptional photographic overlooks. And then comes the Tignanello vineyards in the San Casciano countryside and the environmentally valuable stone village of San Donato in Poggio.

This is a worthwhile tour, truly unmissable in the autumn months, with the patterns of the vineyards gradually turning warm tones of yellow, red and rust.
